This Manual contains fifteen experiments on fundamental aspects of Earth and environmental engineering with emphasis on the application of chemistry, biology and thermodynamics to environmental processes: Renewable energy generation, carbon capture, catalysis, soil remediation, analysis and purification of water, environmental biology, thermal and biochemical processing of wastes. Students learn laboratory procedures, how to use analytical equipment, demonstrate experimentally theoretical concepts learned in class, and report their results. The Lab Manual summarizes the underlying theory and procedures to be followed in the conduct of these experiments. Students are introduced to the US EPA Environmental Tools to Support Sustainable Decision Making.
